NATIONAL COMPETITION “MASTERS OF TECHNICS”, LIPOVCE, SLOVAKIA

Our Erasmus+ project “Masters of Technics”, in cooperation with SEA – Agency for Education and Science, culminated on June 7, 2024, with the pilot edition of a nationwide competition in wooden model-making using safe woodworking machines for lower secondary school pupils. The venue was set in the beautiful surroundings of Lipovce, near Prešov, at the Canyon Hotel.

Our ten participating teachers and their teams, each consisting of two pupils, gradually arrived already on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Immediately after arrival, all the pupils went on a short hike to the nearby canyon, where they were literally “washed down” by an unexpected storm. But it didn’t diminish their enthusiasm to compete. On Friday morning, everyone was on time and excited to put their skills to the test.

The competing pairs first used the opportunity to consult with their teachers and then worked diligently for three hours on the assigned task. The competition was supervised by judges from Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria. The diverse mix of pupils reflected the aims of our project, and the results confirmed that girls can excel in technical skills too.
